Especially when you are trying to juggle Mum Life, Business Life and Whaanau Life. I often beat myself up on how I can be the best Mum, best Wife, a successful Business Woman and fulfilling the roles of all the other hats I wear.
WHY DO I GET CAUGHT UP TRYING TO BE PERFECT?
- Pleasing others
- If I get all my ducks in a row life will be easier
- Fear of failure
The last one is the biggie, 'Fear of Failure'. I find that pretty ironic that in order to succeed you need to face your fears head-on.
But it is true! Trying to be PERFECT makes my life so much harder. 'Fear of Failure' keeps me where I am, SAFE! Fussing over the finer details, worrying how I look in other people's eyes, taking forever to think about what to write about for my first BLOG post.
I need to kick all of that FEAR to the curb and just throw myself into being productive and being AWESOME.
OKAY now that I have said that out loud. Let's move on to how I have been productive in the Ka Hao i te Ao Programme (an awesome digital media course).
One week in and all the challenges have been thrown at me. It's School holidays, there is so much work to do in this course, my lovely printer just died and I have orders piling up, it's bloody hot and the kids want to fight over everything like feral animals. My daughter decides to paint her face blue like a smurf because I am ignoring her, trying to get shit done!
A lot of excuses there! But really, how have I organised myself and remained productive during the first week? In all honesty, I haven't been productive. Time to take my power back!
The first thing to do is remove a big distraction - Social Media.
Although Social Media is great, it can be a big time waster. Enter my new favourite app
An app that beautifully interrupts mindless browsing and gets you back to life. I can still access my Social Media apps but instead of spending hours researching cool hacks on YouTube and Pinterest, my focus has been moved back to being productive in my learning. Not only am I getting things done, but I am also being more present amongst my whaanau.
NEXT BLOG POST - How I continue to be productive in my life.

This is really awesome Sylvia. It felt like I was reading my story. I can feel the emotions coming out of your blog. I also struggle with the idea of always landing perfectly on my toes. It is hard. And fear of failure. There are tons of opportunity that I missed because of this. But thank you for bringing this up. At least I know that there's someone that shares the same experience as I do. I don't feel so alone anymore.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie, it's so nice to know that sharing some of me can help other people too.
DeleteSmashing it, Sylvia!
