Being PRODUCTIVE - what it means to me

School started back this week and I am SO grateful. I have gained some headspace back to really get stuck into my business, I am a lot happier/calmer and not so reactive around my kids and husband.

I can also dedicate some quality time to get stuck into the Ka Hao I Te Ao course. A digital media training course with Te Whare Hukahuka that I committed to for the next 3 months.

So I thought this week, what time do I really have (kid-free) and how am I going to be productive during that time.

I have exactly 25 hours per week to spread across being productive in my business, my digital media course, and some me-time too.

I am not a person who likes an endless list of things to do.  I have learned from the past, that this way of being doesn't serve me. I have also learned that staying up late at night, burning both candles at each end doesn't work for me either.

My goal is to be productive, not busy.  What's the difference you may ask?
Being busy is frantic while being productive is focused. Being busy is fueled by
perfectionism while being productive is fueled by purpose.

Time to get creative & brainstorm.

I decided to put into practice the app/software Airtable, that I have been exposed to in my Ka Hao I Te Ao training.  Airtable is a cloud collaboration tool. It fuzes the features of a database and the format of a spreadsheet in a way that lets users always know what’s going on and it helps you keep organized.

I know I said I don't like endless lists but I do like being organized and I think this software is really going to help me in my business life & personal life.

How do intend to use it?
My intention every day is to focus on completing 3 tasks per day that will make a big impact on my life. These 3 things are to be done first above other tasks and I am going to use Airtable to track my progress.  This will help me be accountable, to meet individual & team deadlines, to stay organized, focused.

I am hoping this will help me identify the important things in my life that are a priority, that will help me with my purpose and cut out the things that don't really help with what I am trying to achieve in the 25 hours that I have each week.
After sitting in on a session with Natalie Sisson from The Suitcase Entrepreneur,  I realized that I haven't really thought out what type of Entrepreneur Lifestyle I want and how to structure my business to support this. At this point in time by using Airtable, it should help me build a clear picture showing where I am now, what changes I need to make and where I can ask for help.

In my next post, I hope to give you a run-through of how I set up my bases/boards and hopefully share how it can help others with their organization in their personal and business life.

  1. Kia ora Sylvia, that's definitely relatable to me the being productive not busy!! And I too have implemented Airtable that I moved over from Trello and its just much more better in my own experience. The fields are relavant and customisable, you can upload or drag and drop from about anywhere - you can see I'm a firm supporter of this software tool :) Not to mention the paid features that I seriously will take into consideration.

    1. Kia Ora Keshia, yes I am beginning to see the benefits of this app already. I have kept it very simple to start with and no doubt over time as I will get more comfortable with it and really use the features available.

My Digital technology learning

It's been 4 weeks since I started the  Ka Hao i te Ao Programme  through Te Whare Hukahuka. It's been fast, full-on and mind-boggling.  All in a good way though. I have been exposed to applications I had never heard of before, learned a bit more about the software I am currently using and I have discovered practical solutions that will help relaunch my old business 'Tutu Kiwi' efficiently and effectively. One new software application that I decided to use more from my learnings is Airtable. Airtable is an online collaboration tool that allows you to organize anything, including projects. It presents itself as part spreadsheet and part database, which allows teams to work how they want. I am using the free version because I like free and I am on a budget. Last week, I started on my project 'Tutu Kiwi Relaunch' using Airtable .  At first, when I decided to use airtable , it was a bit daunting and to be honest, the spreadsheet setup was ugly, boring and...

PERFECTIONISM - is a double edged sword.

Especially when you are trying to juggle Mum Life, Business Life and Whaanau Life.  I often beat myself up on how I can be the best Mum, best Wife, a successful Business Woman and fulfilling the roles of all the other hats I wear. WHY DO I GET CAUGHT UP TRYING TO BE PERFECT? Pleasing others  If I get all my ducks in a row life will be easier Fear of failure The last one is the biggie, 'Fear of Failure'.  I find that pretty ironic that in order to succeed you need to face your fears head-on. But it is true! Trying to be PERFECT makes my life so much harder.  'Fear of Failure' keeps me where I am, SAFE! Fussing over the finer details, worrying how I look in other people's eyes, taking forever to think about what to write about for my first BLOG post. I need to kick all of that FEAR to the curb and just throw myself into being productive and being AWESOME. OKAY now that I have said that out loud.  Let's move on to how I have been produc...
